MacBook Pro Loses Wireless Connection?
I have a MacBook Pro and a PC Notebook connected to a WiFi network. The MacBook Pro drops the connection periodically as the AirPort icon shows no connection. When I click the icon it shows a list of 2-3 wireless signals, one of which is my network but it is unchecked. Selecting the network again reconnects the computer.
Previously I had an iMac which never lost connection.
The PC does not have this problem.
Does not change if the PC is powered on or off.
I tried changing the AirPort settings from “By Default join: > Automatic” to ” > Preferred Networks” but that did not solve the problem.
The connection loss does not correspond to screensavers, idleness, or logging out. It can occur while actively using a browser.
Software is up to date.
The distance to the wireless access point is about 30-35 feet.
One of my customer has an 17″ MacBok too with the same problem, we installed an high power antenna which has a mile range (the house is huge), they can get wireless on the 5th floor, yet on the Mac, which is same floor but 2 rooms away, the connection will drop at random totally without warning, we tried everything to find the cause but without luck, they have a PC which also the same distance but next room, that never drops.
I think its the Mac’s hardware but cant prove it
